A: The label helps the artist avoid hassles with business-related tasks and expenses.
We (me and my AI agents) master tracks if needed, help spread the artist's music to various platforms with global distribution and royalty collection. We ensure metadata is correct, cover art is in the right format and resolution, etc. We help promote the artist in various ways, while allowing them the peace of mind to make their music without the worry of an improper release strategy leading to few or no views, little or no pay, and potential plagiarism or piracy. Why worry about that stuff?
A complete list of services and benefits will be added here and to the "About" page, as soon as I've gotten it finalized. I've got some nice perks up my sleeves for future members, but want to ensure I can make it all happen before announcing anything.
Some things the label will do for artists include:
- Free MP3 mastering using LANDR's AI mastering tool.
- Help generating art for Songs, Albums, CD/Vinyl, and various Merchandise items.
- Global distribution to all platforms.
- Global royalty collection.
- Free Artist/Band page on this site (see the Artist drop-down menu for Gamahea as an example)
- Help with sync licensing to get music into TV / Movies / Video Games
- Help with marketing and promotion
- Help with music video creation
- Help writing lyrics
- Google ADs featuring signed artists or groups of artists
- Youtube Content ID secured (so people don't rename your music & call it their own)
- OH there will be more to come as I finalize the list... stay tuned!
A: Simply put, YES. Generally, the label will own the copyright to licensed songs and albums, FOR the duration of the contract. If the artist chooses to end the contract, those rights are returned to them. In the future (once I've secured startup funding), I plan to be able to offer Copyright protection assistance to signed artists (ie. the label will pay for those expensive US Copyright office fees). This will be a standard thing eventually.
More info will be added later, but rest assured I am running a fully legit business here, and I won't steal your music or let anyone else do it. That's part of being a label. As license holder of your intellectual property, I'll do my best to guard it from misuse and piracy.
A: NEVER! The label makes its profits by contracting with artists and taking a pre-determined cut of future profits in exchange for the benefits the label provides. Some contract types may provide more benefits than others. A full list of contract deals will be available soon.
A: The label has multiple types of contracts. A full list will be posted soon with all the relevant information. Contract types include the industry standards:
- Individual songs / singles
- Administration
- Exclusive
- Co-Publishing
- Participation
- Foreign Sub Licensing
(I plan to keep the label's cut as small as possible while still maintaining a realistic profit. This will encourage more artists to sign on and help grow the label's catalogue)
A: Gamahea Records is a niche label that specifically caters to Udio.com AI music creators and DAW users who do not need a recording studio or touring. This cuts down greatly on operating costs, and allows me
to run this label on a shoestring budget so that it can have time to grow and become successful.
Other AI such as Suno will not be accepted a this time, due to various factors including the AI quality, audio watermark & Terms of Service issues. Only Udio music will be allowed for now, as well as music generated by artists using Digital Audio Workstation (DAW) software such as Fruity Loops Studio, Ableton, or Cakewalk.
Artists must be aware that 100% AI-generated music cannot be distributed. The artist must add something to it to "humanize" it. Either write your own lyrics, edit it in a DAW or Audacity, or do something else to make it not 100% AI-generated. I will give my own such music away for free, because honestly no one will buy it when they can click a button a few times and make their own. Makes sense, right?
A: I'm keeping strict track of all money and where it's going. All donations to this site will go towards the setting up and daily operations of the record label. I still have my day job, so my personal expenses are generally covered. I'm also dumping money into the label myself, but I don't make much and work is slow this time of year. Any donation of any amount is greatly appreciated and will help me a lot! Big thanks to all donors, I will remember you when it comes time to hand out free merch and stuff. :)
I cannot yet open my webstore because I still need to open a business bank account to link to the site.
Once this is done, the donations will start going into the business account.
I'm about to open that account and secure startup funding, so donations will help until then. If I can secure a good amount of startup funding, I'll remove that nasty donate button or move it to the bottom of the page.
A: Of course! All contracts allow the artist to walk away whenever they want to. This label exists for the artists, and as such I want them to be happy, even if it means leaving. Please note that there is red tape involved, but it's easily handled. Basically it's the shuffling of licensed rights back to the artist. Simple.
A: Feel free to use the contact form on the homepage if you have questions that I haven't already answered.
I should get an alert immediately and be able to quickly respond if I'm able. If you would like to speak with me directly, send me (Gamahea) a friend request on Discord. I admit I do tend to forget to check my email daily. It's something I'm correcting as I jump into business mode. However, I'm on Discord every day,
and will be more likely there to respond faster for now as I stay busy getting everything ready.
